ICOM Radio Issue
Problem:
While Process Improvement folks were out doing Safety Observations,
several Trainmen said they had a safety concern with the new ICOM hand held
radios. They said you can easily change the radio channel if bumped getting
on and off equipment, due to the location of the channel buttons. We
contacted the Communication folks and they have received other complaints about
this.
Solution:
Anyone with a ICOM radio has the option of changing the location and
way to change channels. So if anyone has this concern - have them take
there radio to the local communication person and they can re-program the
radio to disable the side buttons and move the channel select to the key
pad.
Razor Blade Alert!!
Please click on the link below, then print and post the attached pictures for our co-workers. I know we have all seen many of these types of things before. It simply reiterates the fact that we must constantly be aware of every last detail in our work environment. Unfortunately, it is not always going to be our own actions that get us, but if we maintain a high level of awareness we may be able to avoid or minimize the effects.... Jerry Gibson

A Good Reason To Wear PPE
Do you occasionally see a teammate not wearing their safety glasses? Click on the link below, print it and share it during the beginning of your shift safety meeting. It may be just the subtle hint that a non-believer needs as a reminder to wear safety glasses, even when no one is around to remind them.
